The New Ragu!

by sarah on 09/30/2010

Veggies – the dreadful “v” word that looms over households worldwide at meal time.  Parents worry whether their children are getting the proper nutrition, while the kids are busily feeding their spinach to their pet hamster.  And, according to a survey conducted by Ragu, half of moms say that they have less time to prepare nutritious meals once the school year begins!  So, Ragu came up with a terrific solution – they re-formulated their Old World Style Traditional Sauce with more veggies.  Now, half a cup of this sauce contains 2 servings of veggies.  And, it’s so delicious that your children won’t even know they are eating vegetables – you can add it to favorite dishes like lasagna and spaghetti, and voila! its will save you that extra trip to the grocery store for vegetables.  For more information and occasional fun giveaways, check out Ragu’s Facebook page!

Disclosure: I was entered to win a Ragu prize package in exchange for writing this post.

We were so excited to receive our review package from Flowerz in Her Hair.  My two year old prima dona, who loves dressing up, pulled out her Cinderella shoes, and regally sauntered around the house with her beautiful hair ribbons.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Flowerz in Her Hair, let me share a little background.  When her little girl was born, Amy went in search for pretty hair accessories and was disappointed by the high boutique prices and the limited selection.  So, she turned her creative energies towards making her own hair ribbons.  In the beginning, it was only for her daughter, but after people saw her talent and begged her to sell them, she launched Flowerz in Her Hair, an impressive collection of hair ribbons.  Here are a few you can choose from:

You can get the classic “Boutique Bow” for $4.00.  It comes in 29 different colors and three clip types, depending on your child’s hair thickness!  My daughter’s hair is so thin that I always have difficulty finding a hair clip that will stay and not yank her hair out.  I was very impressed with the “Alligator Clip” that came with our sample “Boutique Bow” – there were no tears from hair pulling and we didn’t lose it half way to the car!

Or if you want a hair ribbon that jazzes up your outfit, check out these “Tiny Toddler” bows in patterned Grosgrain.  These automatically come with the “Alligator Clip” and are an excellent price!  Solid Grosgrain retails for 2/$5 and patterned are 2/$6.

My favorite was the Flower clip!  It’s so pretty and adds a flair of elegance to even a jean and t-shirt day! :)   If you love flowers, you’ll definitely want to check out Amy’s “Make Your Own Button Flower” section.

I was really impressed with the hair ribbons we received.  I don’t generally accessorize my daughter’s hair, because it’s so difficult to anything affordable and pretty.  Normally, the night before our Christmas picture, I will dash to the store, hurriedly pick out a cheap, flimsy hair bow, and pray that it lasts for the 30 minutes it will take to get from our house to Portrait Innovations. :)   Not anymore!  For a mere ten dollars (I’m sure most of you save that in a day with your couponing!), you can get 4 gorgeous hair bows delivered to your doorstep!  (Yes, she evens offers free shipping on orders over $10.)  So, take a few minutes to check out her website, you’ll be amazed at the outstanding selection she offers!

And, Amy has generously offered a $20 gift card to her store, so you can pick out the perfect hair accessories for your child, grandchild, friend, or as a baby gift!  To enter, you must be a public follower of my blog and let me know which hair ribbon (aside from the ones I mentioned) you like.

For extra entries, you can:
1) Follow Flowerz in Her Hair on Twitter.  (Please leave your Twitter ID.)
2) Follow Flowerz in Her Hair on Facebook and write on their wall, letting them know Capitally Frugal sent you.  (Please leave your Facebook name.)
3) Blog about the giveaway and leave me a link.
4) Vote for my on Top Mommy Blogs by clicking the button on my sidebar.  (You can do this every 24 hours.)
5) Tweet this giveaway, using both @capitallyfrugal and @amysflowerz.  (Please leave a link.)

This contest will run until October 18th at 11:59 PM.  I will use random.org to pick the lucky winner, send them an email, and they will have 48 hours to respond.  Once they respond, I will forward their information to Flowerz in Her Hair, who will contact them with their gift certificate.

Disclosure: I received no compensation for this post.  I was given the gift certificate to giveaway on this blog, and a few hair ribbons to write my review.
