National Cherry Blossom Festival Family Days
Date: March 24 & 25, 2012

Location: National Building Museum – 401 F Street, NW
Cost: FREE
Description: Join the National Building Museum and the National Cherry Blossom Festival in celebrating for two days of family fun. The annual family festival features hands on activities and dynamic performances, all part of the Centennial Celebration honoring the 100-year anniversary of the gift of the trees.  Make a kokeshi doll, design a shoji screen, construct an origami teahouse, watch taiko drummers, The Washington Ballet, and much more!

Tidal Basin Paddle Boats
Open daily from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, the Tidal Basin Boathouse will be offering free online reservations for paddleboats between 10 AM – 12 PM during the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Hourly rentals are $12.00 for a two-passenger boat, and $19.00 for a four-passenger boat. At least one passenger must be 16 years old. Life vests are provided for individuals over 18 months of age or 25 lbs., and must be worn by all passengers at all times.

Japan Spring Opening Day Celebration
Tomorrow (3/24), head to the Freer/Sackler Smithsonian Museum to celebrate the arrival of Japan Spring on the National Mall with bento boxes and tea, available for purchase in the Sackler Pavilion from 11 am – 2 pm.  A free Hokusai-inspired family activity and a demonstration of the dramatic art of kabuki will begin at 2 pm. Japanese cuisine provided by Kushi.

2nd Annual Bike Ride and Cycle Expo
On Sunday (3/24), this year’s free Cherry Blossom Bike Ride and Cycle Expo will be held by scenic Georgetown Waterfront on Water Street. The Cycle expo with kick off at 10:00 am with local bike shops and cycling related vendors offering information on products, bike maintenance, training programs and more. At 11:00 am the first celebrity led ride will take off for a 10 mile out and back ride along the Capital Crescent Trail. Additional rides will take off every 45 minutes. Must pre-register here for a ride. Educational seminars will be offered throughout the event with topics like “How to Change a Flat Tire” and “Bike Safety”. Event will conclude at 2:00 pm.

Easter Egg Hunts in the DC Area This Weekend
Spring Festival at Ticonderoga Farms – Chantilly, VA

Date: March 17 – April 15, 2012
Time: 10am-5pm for Festival (Easter Egg Hunts: 12:30 PM, March 17 & 18, 24 & 25, 31 and 11 AM & 2 PM on April 7 & 8, 14 & 15)
