NoVA Wars: The Slice is Right
On Saturday, April 28 from 1-3 PM, join NoVA Mag & for a Spring Festival with Free Pizza for the Whole Family! Put on your game face and prepare for corn hole competitions, hula hoop relays, a moonbounce, face painting, balloons, live music and lots of prizes! Sample Cinnabon, Rita’s Italian Ice and Pop Chips! Family Entertainment in the DC Area
USA Science and Engineering Festival
The Expo will take place this weekend at the Walter E Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. The hours are Saturday from 10-6 and Sunday from 10-4. Evening shows are also scheduled for the weekend including the Stargazing Party with Bill Nye and Featured Author Panel Discussion.  The Festival will be packed with entertainment for the whole family with 3,000 amazing hands-on exhibits and over 150 incredible stage shows. This FREE event is perfect for all ages and has something special for just about everyone. We have created “thematic tracks”‘ including Tiny Animal Lovers, Math is Really Fun, Be a Robotics Engineer, Nuclear to Stellar and much more to make your Festival experience fun, easy and enjoyable.  Be sure to visit the Family Magazine, Sid the Science Kid, and the AT&T booths!

The Taste of Vienna
The Vienna Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting the First Annual Taste of Vienna food festival on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 11AM-8PM at 400 Center Street, South, in Vienna (rain or shine). Admission is free and guests will be able to purchase food and beverages. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department. Musical entertainment will also be provided.  The focus of this family-friendly event will be to showcase the many excellent restaurants that the Vienna area has to offer. Fairfax Fine Arts Festival
Over 100 artists from all over the United States will be a Fairfax Corner from April 28th (10 AM – 7PM)  & 29th (10 AM – 5PM).  This Fine Arts Festival was ranked #32 in the COUNTRY last year! Who’s Your Farmer Open House
Head to Great Country Farms on Saturday (4/28) from 10 AM – 5PM.  All are welcome to get to know the folks raising your produce and learn more about eating locally at the Farm’s Members Open House.  From 10 AM – Noon, there will be a special pancake breakfast at the Roosteraunt.  And, from 11 AM-1pm, there will be a Who’s Your Farmer Meet and greet and Cookology demonstration.  (The Who’s Your Farmer meet and greet will feature Beekeeper, Bill Bundy, Joyce and Travis Miller of Wildwood Hickory Syrup,  Steve Baker of Baker’s Pork, The Brown Family of Oakland Green Beef and guests can  investigate this season’s real milk share program with Shannon Nichols of Hedgebrook Farms.)  Event Day Admission: Adults $10; Kids $8; Children 2 and under & Military ID card holders are FREE.

Glen Echo Family Day 2012
Join Glen Echo for FAMILY DAY on Saturday, April 28, from 11 AM – 4PM.  There will be performances, magic shows, art activities, face painting, carousel rides, and more!  For a list of free activities, click here.  This fun-filled annual event celebrates the opening of the Dentzel Carousel for its 92nd season in Glen Echo Park and offers a full day of activities for families.  The carousel operates from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and it costs $1.25 per ride.

Loudoun County Bed and Breakfast Open House
The Loudoun Bed & Breakfast Guild is offering an Open House Tour this Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM.  It is a really fun event for the whole family and a relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon.  The event is free and offers visitors an opportunity to tour local B&B’s at their own pace.  I love that many of my favorite local restaurants (Magnolias at the Mill, Grandale Farm Restaurant, Tuscarora Mill and The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm) will be participating and providing samples of their food at certain B&B’s!  To see which B&B will be hosting your favorite restaurant, read their flier!
