A.V. Symington in Leesburg
With the triple digit temperatures of the DC-area, I’m sure many of you are looking for “cooling” activities to do with your children! What better way to spend a blistering hot summer afternoon then enjoying water slides and lazy rivers? I’ve compiled a list of the water parks in the area, along with coupons or discounts they offer! Several readers have suggested purchasing an Entertainment Book, for the great water park coupons they offer. In the past, we’ve skipped the coupons and headed to our local water park after 5PM for their significant “after peak hour” discount. How about you? How do you beat the heat without breaking the bank?
And, when you’re headed to the pool, here are a few tips to make sure your trip goes a little smoother!
*Bring sunscreen – I can’t emphasize how important this one is! My husband has turned into a lobster more times than I can count, because he’s forgotten it. In fact, he keeps a spare bottle of sunscreen in our car now! To save a little extra, there are printable coupons for $1 off Coppertone and $1 off Banana Boat Suncare.
*Swim Diapers – ah, yes, for those children are not potty trained, the essential Swim Diapers. No water park/pool/aquatic center will let a child in without them. (And, no, you can’t substitute regular diapers for them – don’t ask me how I know!) To purchase swim diapers for slightly less outrageous prices, visit Amazon
or print this coupon for $1 off Huggies Little Swimmers.
*Avoid crowds – visit on weekdays or during twilight hours. Not only is it cheaper, but lines are not as long!
*Bring water – hydration, hydration, hydration!
With the triple digit temperatures hitting the area, it’s so important to keep hydrated. Kids generally hate stopping to get a drink of water, but I try to call “A” in for a drink, every 15-20 minutes. Pick up a case of water at Costco (one of the cheapest places!), and you won’t have to spend the outrageous prices at the waterpark kiosks!
