Summer Days = Cheap Movies

For those of you in the DC Metro area looking for a fun way to spend the day, here is a list of movie theaters who are offering free (or discounted) showings for the summer!  Parents can enjoy the blessing of A/C, while the children are glued to the screen.   I’ve split the listings up, based on location – and, you’ll notice the majority are in the Loudoun County area.  Can you guess where I live? :)

{Arlington, VA}
Summer Movie Express at Regal Cinemas – $1 Movies (this is a nation-wide promotion!)
Where: Ballston Common Stadium 12, 671 N. Glebe Road Arlington VA
When: Moviegoers of all ages can climb aboard the Summer Movie Express to enjoy a great selection of films. During this 9-week festival, participating Regal Cinemas, United Artists and Edwards Theatres will offer selected G or PG rated movies for $1 on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10:00. Screen on the Green
Where: Movies begin at sunset and will be shown on a giant 20’ by 40’ screen on the Mall between 7th and 12th Streets NW.
When: Outdoor screenings will begin on Monday, July 16th, with one Wednesday screening on July 25th.   People start to claim their spots on the lawn as early as 5 p.m. Movies play except in extreme weather and there are no rain days.  Here is the movie schedule:

When: The Town of Purcellville, in partnership with Moonflicks/Northern Virginia Party Rental and Purcellville Teen Center, Inc., is pleased to announce the new Purcellville Film Festival. This is a series of free family movie nights every Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. starting June 19 and continuing for five more weeks. Family Drive-In Theatre (the only one in existence in the DC area)
When: Shows run from Friday through the following Thursday (then, movies are switched out).  Right now, Screen One is showing Madagascar 3 followed by Men in Black 3 and Screen Two is showing Rock of Ages and Snow White and the Huntsman.  Admission is $8/adult (ages 12 and up); $4/child (ages 3-11); and free for children under age 3.  For more details, visit their website.
Where: They are 1 mile South of Stephens City, Virginia on US Rt. 11.  From I-81, use the Stephens City exit (Exit 307).
