2012 County Fairs in DC
This was such a popular post last year that I decided to put up a list of County Fairs in the DC Metro area, once again! {A very special thanks to my husband for doing the research, so I could post this in a timely manner!} As our thoughts turn to our children heading back to school, what better way to enjoy a last hoorah than to munch on a funnel cake as you check out your county’s best 4H projects! For those of you in Loudoun County, our fair starts this week! Will you be attending a fair this year? Which one is your favorite? I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!
Loudoun County Fair
Dates: July 23 – 28, 2012
Location: Loudoun County Fairgrounds – 17558 Dry Mill Road, Leesburg, VA 20175
Ticket Prices: $10 (Adults, Daily Pass); $5 (Children, 6-12, Daily Pass); $25 (Adult, Weekly Pass at the Gate); $10 (Child, Weekly Pass at the Gate), $20 (Adult, Advance Sale Weekly Pass); $8 (Child, Advance Sale Weekly Pass), Children under 6 are free!
Specials: Children under 15 are FREE on Children’s Day (Wednesday, July 25th) until 4 PM. And, seniors 62 and over, are FREE on Senior Citizens’ Day (Thursday, July 26th) until 4 PM.
Highlights: You can see a boa constrictor up close, ride a camel, enjoy 4-H dinners each night ($7 – $13/person), watch a demolition derby, and much more!
Dates: July 30 – August 4, 2012
Location: 155 Fairground Rd, Clear Brook, VA 22624
Ticket Prices: $6 (Adults, Daily Pass); $3 (Children, 6-11, Daily Pass): $25 (Weekly Pass); Children under 5 years are free!
Specials: Senior Citizens 55 or older with ID are $3 on Monday, July 30th.
Highlights: Monster truck event, BBQ dinner, Bubble Gum Blowing Contest, Steve Foster w/Amazing Grace Trick Mule, truck and tractor pull, and demolition derby.
Dates: August 8-12, 2012
Location: Thomas Jefferson Community Center, 3501 South Second Street, Arlington, VA 22204
Ticket Prices: Admission is free, but there is no on site parking. A $2 round-trip fee is charged for shuttle services, Children 12 and
under and seniors 65 and over ride for free.
Highlights: Harlem Wizards, Pony Rides, Outdoor Movie Nights, and much more!
Prince William County Fair
Dates: August 10 – 18, 2012
Location: Prince William Fairgrounds, 10624 Dumfries Rd, Manassas, VA 20112
Ticket Prices: (For advanced price tickets, click here, a discount of $3 for adult tickets. At the door, tickets will be $8 (Adult, Daily Pass); $5 (Child, 5-13, Daily Pass); $5 (Senior, 60+, Daily Pass), Children 4 and under are free!
Specials: Active military admitted FREE! 2 Dollar Day will be Tuesday, August 14th – purchase admission to the fair for $2. All rides just $2.00 (no wristbands for sale). Half-price day will be Sunday, August 12th. Admission and ride wrist bands will be half price – $4 for admission, $10 ride wrist band.
Highlights: Deggeller Attractions Midway, Carolina Camels, No Joe’s Clown Circus, Pev’s Paintball, Home Arts Exhibits, Craft Demonstrators, Animal & Midway Shows, Nightly Grandstand Events & Showbarn Performances
Montgomery County Agricultural Fair
Dates: August 10-18, 2012
Location: The Heritage Building, 16 Chestnut Street, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 (There is also a FREE shuttle from Lakeforest Mall.)
Ticket Prices: At the door, tickets will be $10 (Adult, Daily Pass) and FREE for children 11 and under. For more information, click here.
Specials: Senior Day, Tuesday, August 14, free admission for ages 62 and over from 10 am to 5 pm. Military Day, Thursday, August 16, free admission for active military in uniform or with a valid military ID from 10 am to 5 pm. Friday, August 10 – One-day ride Megapass wristbands will cost $15.00, from 3 pm to midnight only. On Monday, August 13 & Wednesday, August 15, one-day ride Megapass wristbands will cost $15.00 from noon until 5 pm, you may ride until midnight.
Highlights: Monster Truck Madness, Demolition Derby, Monster Truck Rides, Lawnmower Racing, Skid Steer Loader Competition, Stilt Walker, Vintage Supertractor Pull, and much more!
Clarke County Fair
Dates: August 12 – 18, 2012
Location: Clarke County Ruritan Fairgrounds – 890 West Main Street in Berryville, VA
Ticket Prices: $7 (Adults, Daily Pass); $2 (Children, 5 – 15, Daily Pass); $18 (Adult, Weekly Pass at Berryville NewStand); $5 (Children, Weekly Pass at the Berryville NewStand); Children under 5 are free!
Specials: Children under 15 are FREE on Children’s Day (Wednesday, August 15th) until 5 PM. And, seniors 62 and over, are FREE on Senior Citizens’ Day (Wednesday, August 15th) until 5 PM. All active and military veterans are admitted FREE, all day (Thursday, August 16th).
Highlights: Lonestar and Dailey & Vincent Concerts, Demolition Derby, Lawn Mower Pull, Truck & Tractor Pull, Bull Riding & Rodeo “Buckin Bulls”, Puppet shows, and much more.
Prince George’s County Fair
Dates: September 6-9, 2012
Location: The Show Place Arena, Upper Marlboro, MD
Ticket Prices: $6 (Adult, 12+, Daily Pass); $5 (Children, 6-11, Daily Pass), Children 5 and under are free!
Highlights: Horse pull competition, a chain saw artist, a K-9 show, and much more.
Anne Arundel County Fair
Dates: September 12 – 16, 2012
Location: Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds, 1450 General’s Highway, Crownsville, MD
Ticket Prices: $6 (Adult, 16+, Daily Pass); $4 (Children, 8-15, Daily Pass); Children 7 and under are free!
Specials: Seniors (55+) and Disabled are FREE on Thursday, September 13th (10 AM – 3 PM). 4-H and FFA Exhibitors FREE with Membership Card.
Highlights: Mayhem Circus, broadBAND Concert, Children’s Musical Entertainer, The Great Little Bear Show, Interactive Car Racing

How could you forget the MONTGOMERY COUNTY FAIR?!
The Montgomery County Fair was last week, so I didn’t add it to the list. But, I just added the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.
You also forgot the Howard county fair. It is one of the oldest and best in the metro area.
