Congratulations to our winner, Lisa! Thanks to all who entered!
A few weeks ago, “A” and I had the fantastic opportunity to enjoy a pre-screening of The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure as well as a chat with the creator, Kenn Viselman. In all her four years, “A” has never been to a movie theater, so I was a little worried about whether she would sit through an hour and a half showing! But, thankfully, The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure is unlike any children’s movie you’ve experienced and actually encourages dancing in the aisles and singing with the characters!
The Oogieloves movie, a film and live show rolled into one, is the first-of-its-kind interactive family musical that encourages the audience to get out of their seats, dance, and sing. It follows the adventures of the Oogieloves trio (Goobie, Zoozie, and Toofie) as they search for five magical balloons that escaped as they were on the way to a friend’s birthday party. To aid the Oogieloves in retrieving the balloons, your children are asked to sing-a-long, dance, and loudly cheer them on!
Kenn Viselman, who has produced his share of children’s movies, ranging from Thomas the Tank Engine to Teletubbies, is no stranger to the development of films that grip a child’s attention. But, in all the movies and TV series he’s created, he’s felt that they lacked child interaction. Most parents try to hush their children in the movie theater, but he thinks entertainment should be fun for the children and that the adults shouldn’t have to worry about squelching their child’s exuberance!
So, he came out of retirement to produce The Oogieloves in the BIG Balloon Adventure, that targets the 2-7 age range. In addition to kids having fun while watching it, I loved all the vibrant, happy colors. There are no “scary” moments, and Kenn even steered away from using any dark coloring or intense music.
I’ve found that it is getting increasingly difficult to find movies that are geared towards my four-year old’s happy-go-lucky attitude. And, Kenn has also realized that Hollywood has completely ignored the youngest moviegoer. The best they give our kids – animated PG films – are loaded with aggression and bloodshed. So, to help fix this problem, Kenn developed The Oogieloves in the BIG Balloon Adventure, a film that reinvents the movie-going experience.
So, mark your calendars! The Oogieloves in the BIG Balloon Adventure hits theaters next week Wednesday, August 29th. Find a showing near you by visiting the Fandango website!
