Today, October 5th, is the LAST day to enter our super fast giveaway for tickets to the Big Apple Circus on Monday, October 8th (otherwise known as Columbus Day!).  A huge thank you to Washington Family Magazine for sponsoring the giveaway!

Big Apple Circus at Dulles Town Center

Our family attended the Wednesday evening performance of the Big Apple Circus and loved every minute!  From the hilarious ring leader to the nonsensical clowns, we were spellbound!  This year’s theme is the history of the circus; so, in addition, to all the superb acts, they also offered interesting pieces of trivia that took you back in time to the opening of Central Park and the Industrial Revolution.

No Circus Is Complete Without Horses!

Our first experience with the circus was attending the Big Apple at Dulles Town Center, last year.  And, while we enjoyed ourselves then, we thought this year’s performance was infinitely better!  Personally, I loved the music – the live band played popular tunes you’d hear at circuses in years past.

The Phenomenal Contortionist Who Made My Neck Hurt Just Watching!

And, for those of you with children, you won’t have to worry about them becoming bored.  The acts were short and fast paced and the music was loud enough to drown out any squawks and screeches they might make!  :) {There is an intermission half way through the performance, so you can get up and take your children to the bathroom or purchase some yummy circus food.}  Our four year old was riveted in her chair and did not make a peep the entire 1 hour and 50 minutes.  And, to quote her, “Mommy, the best part of the night was the horses that bowed.”

Three Men and a Flying Lady

For the adult contingent of our party, we enjoyed the couple who tangoed while they juggled (pretty impressive to us, since we can neither tango nor juggle!), the ladies who did amazing tricks with their bikes, and the gentleman who rode a unicycle on the slack line.  It was a terrific performance, and a wonderful way to spend the evening.  The Big Apple Circus will only be at Dulles Town Center for the next four days, so I encourage you to head there this weekend!  And, be sure to enter our giveaway for a family, four-pack of tickets to the Circus on Monday, October 8th.
