Signature Pancakes at IHOP
When we received an IHOP gift card to try out their newest signature pancakes, my husband was thrilled. Back in our college days (many moons ago!), IHOP was a favorite hangout, especially around midterms and finals. An endless supply of coffee, delicious entrees that were inexpensive, and great hours (it was open ’til the wee hours of the morning) – it didn’t get better than that for poor, exhausted college students!
As we stepped into our local IHOP, a rush of college nostalgia swept over us, and we marveled that despite how much life has changed in the last ten years, the ambiance of IHOP has stayed the same. The staff is still very friendly, the coffee pots still keep patrons’ mugs filled to the brim, and, of course, the food continues to be delicious.
Yummy Pumpkin Pancakes
To make our gift card stretch (I am a frugal blogger!), we ordered the three different types of signature pancakes to-go, and whipped up some delicious scrambled eggs, fruits, and meat to go with our pancakes at home. It was a real treat for the whole family, especially for me since I didn’t have to spend my entire Saturday morning flipping pancakes! After sampling the different varieties, we decided that the New York Cheesecake Pancakes were our favorite, with the Carrot Cake Pancakes a close runner-up!

Did you know that the new signature pancakes will be available at participating IHOP locations nationwide through January 2013? And, prices start at $4.99 – what a great deal! You can choose from these three options:
Pumpkin Pancakes
Made with real pumpkin, spices and crowned with creamy whipped topping. Pumpkin is the perennial #1 selling limited-time offer Signature pancake. Last year IHOP served 3.1 million pumpkin pancakes.
New York Cheesecake Pancakes
Griddled with real cheesecake pieces, then crowned with glazed strawberries and creamy whipped topping. More than 250,000 pounds of cheesecake were used last year for fans of this item.
Carrot Cake Pancakes
Rounding out this season’s offerings is an oatmeal spice pancake recipe featuring a sweet-savory mix of fresh, diced apples, shredded carrots, coconut, raisins, crunchy walnut pieces topped with whipped butter and a drizzle of cream cheese icing.
Classic IHOP Breakfast
And, at participating IHOP locations throughout the country, kids eat free from 4:00PM – 9:00 PM with the purchase of an adult entree. There is no coupon needed to take advantage of this promotion, but I would call your local franchise to make sure they are participating. We have confirmed that many locations in the DC Metro area are participating, including Leesburg and Sterling.

Well, to be honest, I’m not sure I’d really choose one of those signature pancakes listed… I’d rather just have their regular pancakes, or the last time we were in IHOP they had a really yummy oat & grain (or similar name) pancake that I loved! So I’d probably go with that if I could.
