I’m sure many of you are wondering at the silence on my blog for the past month. About a week before Christmas, I came down with a horrible bout of the flu. About the time I was feeling a little better, our little one came down with a head cold. Thankfully, we were able to peel ourselves off the couch in time for Christmas!
This Christmas was the first time “A” was super excited about the holidays! Since she still hasn’t grasped the concept of “morning and evening being one day,” she had to verify every other minute that we hadn’t inadvertently skipped December 25th. And, of course, in between sneezes, she felt compelled to shake, rattle, and squash each present to determine which one to open on Christmas Eve. But, her favorite part was dancing to Pandora’s Christmas carols ALL DAY LONG. Even my dreams started to revolve around the overplayed, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”
We spent the week between Christmas and New Year’s, recovering from our colds and enjoying a few snow days. And, in honor of January 1st, I spent many hours in the kitchen, making a few traditional Japanese dishes. It’s pretty much the one time a year that I make somen salad, sushi, mochi, shoyu chicken, etc. And, maybe, one of these days, I will be efficient enough to do a food tutorial on the blog!
And, then, I somehow succumbed to an upper respiratory infection and have been hacking away ever since. I’m really hoping to finally kick this bug, but it has hung on tenaciously! Thanks so much for your patience with the blog silence – I’m hoping to be better by next week.

I have been wondering about you, Sarah! I’m so sorry you guys have been sick. It’s everywhere isn’t it? We’ve had it here, too. Praying healing for you!
Hope you’re on the upswing now. Thinking of you!
