Nurses have my utmost respect!  About two years ago, my best friend joined the Florence Nightingales of the world – and, listening to her stories makes me feel both queasy and exhausted.  Don’t worry, HIPAA, they are very generic tales! :)   This week, May 6-12, is Nurses Appreciation Week, so be sure to thank the nurse(s) in your life!

Here are some great promotions and freebies that are running this week (while it’s certainly not as extensive as the teacher’s discount list, if you have a favorite store, be sure to ask if they have a nurse discount.  Many companies don’t advertise it, but are happy to give you a small discount.  It doesn’t hurt to ask!).

Buca di Beppo
From May 6-10, nurses receive a free Buca-Taster Bowl of Macaroni and Cheese, with your hospital or nurse ID.  For those of you in the DC area, there is a restaurant in Gaithersburg, MD.

Chick-fil-A Seven Corners
On May 7th, Chick-fil-A Seven Corners is celebrating all local nurses in honor of Nurse’s Appreciation Week!  Any nurse who comes in and shows his/her hospital ID will receive a FREE Chick-fil-A Sandwich. Spread the word!  *Seven Corners location only. 5/7 only.

Cinnabon
To celebrate Nurses Week, May 6-12, Cinnabon and The Daisy Foundation are offering nurses free Cinnabon cinnamon rolls or Minibon Rolls to customers who show their healthcare badges at participating bakeries.

New York and Company
All nurses and teachers receive 30% off in stores from May 2-8, 2013.  Customers must show valid ID for themselves or a spouse at any New York & Company store. Valid forms of ID include but not limited to a business card, an ID badge, pay stub, or any identification that shows this person is a teacher or nurse. Only one certificate, coupon or discount per purchase (pre-tax).  Some restrictions apply.

Starbucks
While this isn’t a nurse-specific promotion, it still falls at the perfect time!  Between May 3 – 12, 2013, Starbucks is hosting Happy Hour (50% off frappes) from 3-5 PM each day.
