When Wholesome Goodness contacted me about doing a review (and, offered a giveaway for my readers!), I jumped at the chance! Wholesome Goodness, a new brand of natural, better-for-you foods, recently launched in the Washington, DC, area and offers 56 family favorites such as hot and cold cereals, snack chips, trail mixes, Omega and veggie tortilla chips, salsas, dressings, marinades, sauces and juice.
All Wholesome Goodness foods emphasize natural ingredients such as whole grains, fiber and beneficial antioxidants while minimizing sugar, sodium and fat. The entire line is priced affordably to make eating healthy accessible to all families. Shoppers will see that prices for Wholesome Goodness products fall below comparable mainstream brands and are significantly lower than other all-natural/organic product lines. For us, the hardest part of eating organic and all-natural foods is the price! So, I was thrilled to see that Wholesome Goodness products are extremely affordable.
Their products are created to be healthy without compromising taste, and by focusing on simple recipes and high quality ingredients with no artificial additives, the naturally delicious flavors come through. Wholesome Goodness has also set a high nutritional standard by banning the use of 126 ingredients including artificial additives, sweeteners, colorings and preservatives. Even better? All the products we received were from the U.S. – I was thrilled, because it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find foods made/grown in the U.S.!
When the Wholesome Goodness box of goodies appeared on our doorstep, we excitedly tore it open! So far, we’ve tried their Steel-Cut Oats; Tuxedo, Yukon & Marathon Trail Mixes; and Whole Grain Sea Salt Crisps – and, even my husband (who generally equates “all-natural” with “tasteless”) loved it! I barely got in a few bites of the Sea Salt Crisps, before he polished off the entire bag. And, words cannot describe the delectable-ness of the trail mixes – our favorite was the Tuxedo mix, a perfect combination of nuts and raisins. As a mom, I loved that the trail mixes come in small packages, so they easily slip into my purse (for that quick pick-me-up when we’re running errands).
And, my daughter is thoroughly enjoying the Quick Cook Steel Cut Oats for our morning breakfasts. Normally, it takes so long to cook Steel Cut Oats that I steer away from them, unless I have inordinate amounts of time. But, I’ve read so many articles about Steel Cut Oat’s nutritious properties that I feel guilty giving her the “short-cut” regular rolled oats. Now, with Wholesome Goodness Quick Cook Steel Cut Oats, I don’t have to worry about her fiber and iron intake, and it only takes 5-7 minutes to cook them! I also love that the Steel Cut Oats is plain, so we can add our own mix-ins (apple slices, raisins, etc), based on my daughter’s preferences.
