Today (1/20), Whole Foods Market is hosting a one-day sale on wild-caught Marine Stewardship Council-certified sockeye salmon for $7.99/lb – a savings of nearly 50 percent!  Sourced from the great runs in Alaska, Whole Foods Market’s sockeye salmon is hand-selected by their own port buyers at the peak of the season, then packed and frozen exclusively for their seafood cases to stock during the winter months.

Whole Foods Market maintains the highest standards for seafood quality and sustainability. They prohibit treating their fish with preservatives, and your salmon purchase supports healthy ocean ecosystems, too. In addition, their fish are tracked to ensure that they come from the correct, certified fishery.

If you’d like some ideas of what to cook with your Sockeye Salmon, Whole Foods offers some delectable recipes:

•       Roasted Salmon and Broccoli with Lemony Whole Wheat Linguine
•       Spice-crusted Roast Salmon with Ginger Beets
•       Honey Mustard Salmon Salad
•       Citrus-Marinated Grilled Salmon with Tabbouleh Salad
•       Roasted Salmon and Grapes

If you’d like a simple (and fast!) dinner, grab a container of the Ginger Miso Dressing, found in the Sushi Section at Whole Foods.  Then, bake or pan-fry your salmon and dollop a little of the dressing on top of it.  Serve it with some veggies and rice, and you’ll have a quick, healthy meal!

Whole Foods {Beef Sale This Weekend}

by sarah on 01/05/2012

Starting tomorrow (1/6) through Sunday (1/8), Whole Foods Market is hosting a three-day sale on beef roasts. With this meat-stravaganza, boneless chuck, bottom round, rump roast and more (specific cuts vary by region) will be just $3.49/lb., a savings of around $$2.00/lb.  {For those of you who shop at the Reston, VA store, they will be offering Chuck & Blade Roasts for $3.49/lb.}

As most of you know, beef from Whole Foods Market comes from an animal raised on a vegetarian diet, without being administered antibiotics or added growth hormones.  And all of the ranches from which they source their beef are certified to meet the Global Animal Partnership’s 5-Step™ Animal Welfare Rating program.

If you need inspiration for cooking a roast, visit the Whole Story!  They offer excellent (and, healthy!) recipes for Beef Pot Roast and Beef & Barley Soup (perfect for a cold, wintery night!).  We love sticking a pot roast in the slow cooker, and having a delicious meal waiting at dinner time.

Even better?  If you’re shopping tomorrow, the Whole Foods’ One Day Friday Special will be their 85% Lean Ground Beef for $2.99/lb (regularly $4.99/lb)!  It will be a great day to stock up on antibiotic-free meat!  {And, don’t forget to print these coupons to make your trip a little more frugal!}
